Final Work

This was my final assignment for my first semester in college.

It is set in the Longmen Grottoes in China and depicts an ancient grotto, eroded by time and nature, containing ancient Buddha statues and temples. The spiritual and religious elements embedded in the scene create a sense of mystery and shock that transcends reality.

I try to express my awe and respect for human civilization, emphasizing the combination of tradition and mysterious stories. In the depths of a distant valley, there is an ancient temple that has gone through many vicissitudes of life, and in the silence comes the sound of gentle chanting of Buddhist scriptures. A devout Buddhist stumbles into the temple and witnesses the “echoes of salvation” in front of a solemn statue of Buddha. As the bell tolls and the statue slowly collapses, a mysterious and distant voice calls out through the power of the statue’s destruction. In the end, the temple is transformed into a place of salvation, and the Buddhists finally understand the impermanence of all things, just like the quote at the beginning of the video: “There is no tree in Bodhi, nor is there a mirror in a bright mirror, and there is nothing in the first place, so where does it stir up the dust.”

I used ue5, houdini, nuke, zbrush, maya, and substance painter All of these programs are first time users, and there are many deficiencies that still need to be improved.

Lens Distortion.

All camera footage is shot through a lens. A lens is a series of curved pieces of glass that bend light and “focus” the rays on the image plane.

Some lenses have very low amounts of distortion and won’t affect a track too badly, but the wider the lens the more severe the bending of light will occur. Look for straight lines like walls. These will look curved.

Week 9 Assignment about classroom

Gonzalo’s Class segment

For this assignment, I needed to track the ground collapse material to move it around, so I found the knowledge points that Gonzalo covered in week 7 – the tracker node and the cornerpin node.

In this section, I first imported the ground broken material and added the saturation and grade nodes to adjust the color to help the material blend into the picture and make the picture more natural.

Because I wanted to create the effect of an earthquake, of the ground collapsing. I erased all the posters from the classroom walls and found a few posters in my favorite style that I thought would go well with the theme.

In order to erase the green safety exit sign from the wall and with the ideas provided in this file, I am now able to see very clearly what each node is used for and the GRIN node helps me to eliminate noise and make the image more harmonious.

Above is a video of my presentation and with background music to simulate an earthquake. However, I don’t know how to deal with the falling objects because the lamps on the ceiling in the real scene will fall down during the earthquake. And I hope that in the future I can create a window breaking screen, so that I can simulate the earthquake scene more completely!

Week 9 nuke class_ defocus nodes& roto paint

In visual effects and video editing software. DEFOCUS NODE (blur node) is often used to simulate a focus effect, where the focus of an image or video is adjusted so that certain areas become blurred to mimic the effect of a camera’s focus adjustment.DEFOCUS NODE is used to create a depth-of-field effect, where some parts of an image are kept sharp while other parts become blurred.

The RotoPaint node allows users to perform repair and painting operations directly on an image or video. This is useful for fixing flaws in footage, hiding unwanted elements or adding extra details.

2.If I need to perform an image matting operation, I can use the roto paint with premult.

4. through the alpha of gain, the size of the particles can be adjusted to make the picture look more natural.

5.the combination of stmap and roto can distort the picture.

Week 9 Hot air balloon festival operation modified version

Immediately after making the hot air balloon model. I’ll put it in the Arnold renderer to see if its camera is intact and in motion.

But I have to say that after I made the hot air balloon material inside sp, I don’t know how to import the texture into maya. So I studied the tutorial posted by manos in the group, it’s a very helpful plugin, I just need to select a texture path such as the base color texture. This plugin helps me to connect to the rest of the maps and saves a lot of time.

I exported a tif file that nuke applies.

To make the mountain look like it’s moving and to add tracking. I used the “time” node to adjust the time, which is an easily forgotten but very useful node.

Week 8 nuke poster for 2.5D tracking

For this assignment, I will be creating a new area to create a poster trace. This is because it will help me to memorize and better understand the logic behind each node. The process is roughly as follows:

1. Use “planartracker” to roto the approximate location of the first poster and turn on the tracking.

2. Create a “cornerpin2D(relative) in “tracking”

3. input the poster image of your choice, do roto and premult, and add “cornerpin2D” to help the poster to locate in the position of the original video.

4. connect the original scene with the poster replaced.

Here is my node diagram

For the node, I handle them in a similar way to the iPhone cell phone animations, first roto, then turn on tracking afterward, and finally in premult. While processing I found some errors, for example only the first frame has an occlusion relationship, this is because the tracking module is not enabled and the roto needs to be manually adjusted for displacement.

Week 6 assignment nuke(iPhone animation & balloon festival)

The teacher said that the most important thing about nuke is to understand the logic and thought process involved in order to better complete a piece of artwork. For me, the idea of doing this assignment is: first, deal with the camera shake and tracking. Secondly, replace the animation when the finger moves, using the “dissolve” node. Finally, I need roto the finger dynamics and tracking.

The final product is shown: the teacher said that the smoothness of my animation still needs to be improved, and that I need to make the animation when sliding more silky smooth. In addition, compared to the first roto assignment, it is now more natural to handle, and the speed has been improved to a certain extent.

First model a hot air balloon

Due to some problems with the rope tool in maya, I used c4d to make the rope in the hot air balloon.

Next, I used substance painter to map the balloon.

Based on the previous roto operation, I can easily and flexibly complete the roto of the mountain and use the “tracker” to make the mountain move more naturally.

Week 5 : practice of roto on the nuke

In “roto” we can layer the background and differentiate between different colors to bring out the dynamics of the character in a better way.
In this nuke lesson, we learned how to use bezier curves and b-splines to draw roto shapes. Although the process can be a bit lengthy, I have gained many unique insights into roto after this training. First of all, the use of tools is very important, I think when roto character head should use more smooth curve such as Bezier curve. At the same time, reduce the number of points, which can greatly reduce the workload in the process of completion. Secondly, in the process of roto legs and hands, use b-spline to draw, which can more accurately summarize the shape and dynamics of the character.

Add roto:
1. the running man partition for roto, so as to facilitate the future tracking
2. add “copy” a connected roto area, b connected to the background
3. for the “roto” area to add color mask (mattecheck)

Use roto’s layers with automatic tracking
